Kasperi Kapanen is heading back to the Edmonton Oilers.

The veteran forward signed a one-year, $2.6 million contract extension to remain with the team on Wednesday.

Kapanen, 30, appeared in only 41 games last season due to an undisclosed injury and registered eight goals and 17 points. He added four goals and six points in six playoff games before the Oilers were eliminated in the first round.

The 6-foot-1 winger is coming off a one-year, $1.3 million contract.

Drafted 22nd overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2014, Kapanen has 98 goals and 239 points in 568 career games split between the Toronto Maple Leafs, Penguins, St. Louis Blues, and Oilers.

The Kuopio, Finland native represented his country at the 2018 World Hockey Championship in a fifth-place finish.
