The Washington Capitals announced the signing of Swedish forward Theodor Niederbach to a one-year, two-day deal on Thursday.
The contract will pay the 24-year-old Niederbach $1.025 million in the NHL and $88,000 outside.
Niederbach was a second-round pick of the Detroit Red Wings in 2020.
A native of Bjasta, Niederbach appeared in 52 Swedish Hockey League games this season, notching a career-high 14 goals. It was his first season of his second stint with the team following two with Modo. He previously spent 2020 to 2022 with the team.
Having also suited up for Rogle BK, Niederbach has 42 goals and 58 assists in 238 SHL games across six seasons.
Internationally, Niederbach represented Sweden at back-to-back World Junior Hockey Championships in 2021 and 2022, winning a bronze medal in the latter.
