The Washington Capitals have traded restricted free agent Hendrix Lapierre to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a 2027 third-round pick and a fifth-rounder in 2028.
Lapierre, 24, four goals and 16 points in 74 games with the Capitals this past season.
Selected 22nd overall in the 2020 draft, the Gatineau, Que. native has 13 goals and 47 points in 158 points.
Lapierre may have been squeezed out of the Capitals lineup after the team made major trades to acquire Jordan Kyrou from the St. Louis Blues and Alex Tuch from the Buffalo Sabres this week.
