Just an Emi Martinez shin away from winning consecutive World Cups, France will be among the favourites in 2026 and once more led by Didier Deschamps who will be into his 14th and final year in charge after confirming he will step down after the finals.

Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele will join Kylian Mbappe in a fearsome forward line and, as always, the production line of young talent continues to play its part with the likes of Bradley Barcola, Eduardo Camavinga and Michael Olise hoping to shine on the biggest stage of all.

Les Bleus did not feature at USA 1994 or Mexico 1970 but were third in Mexico in 1986 - both of their World Cup triumphs have come on European soil.
