Jonathan David is unavailable for Tuesday’s first leg of Juventus’s Champions League playoff against Galatasaray in Istanbul on Tuesday.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports the Canada forward has incurred a groin injury.

The Brooklyn-born, Ottawa-raised David is in his first season with the Bianconeri after joining on a Bosman from Lille last summer.

David has five goals and four assists in 24 Serie A appearances this season. He has two goals and an assist in eight Champions League matches. He played for 60 minutes in the team’s 3-2 loss to Inter on Saturday.

David joins the walking wounded in a Juve attack that is already missing Dusan Vlahovic (adductor) and Arek Milik (calf). Belgium international Lois Openda, who has struggled mightily this season, is the team’s only recognized striker in Turkey.

After Tuesday’s match, Juve returns to league play on Saturday at home to Como before hosting Gala in the second leg of their Champions League tie next Wednesday.
