The United States’ Olympic gold medal-winning hockey team might not be attending Tuesday night’s State of the Union address, but they still could get their victory celebration.
Public Enemy legend and noted Olympics enthusiast Flavor Flav has offered to host a celebration in Las Vegas for the team that defeated Canada 2-1 in overtime last Thursday at Milano Cortina.
If the USA Women’s Hockey team wants a real celebration and invite ,,, I’ll host them in Las Vegas. Do some nice dinners and shows and good times. I’m sure I can get a hotel and airline to help me out here and celebrate these women for real for real. pic.twitter.com/NhtRJ8UxKE

“If the USA Women’s Hockey team wants a real celebration and invite, I’ll host them in Las Vegas,” the 66-year-old rapper and hypeman born William Drayton Jr. wrote. “Do some nice dinners and shows and good times. I’m sure I can get a hotel and airline to help me out here and celebrate these women for real for real.”
He later posted an official invite made to USA Hockey by his representation.
With his invitation made publicly, a number of potential corporate partners reached out to Flavor Flav including Alaska Airlines and StubHub offering to sponsor any event.
A native of Long Island, Flav has been a longtime supporter of American Olympic teams, serving as the “official hypeman” for the water polo squads at Paris 2024 and sponsoring the bobsled and skeleton teams at Milano Cortina.
His invite comes on the heels of the women’s team declining an invite to president Donald Trump’s State of the Union, citing “previously scheduled academic and professional commitments following the Games.”
Trump’s invitation came in the middle of a FaceTime conversation with members of the men’s team following their 2-1 overtime triumph over Canada in Sunday’s gold-medal game. After inviting the men’s team to the State of the Union, Trump said, “I must tell you, we’re going to have to bring the women’s team, you do know that?” and quipped that he “probably would be impeached” if he didn’t, eliciting laughter from the locker room.
Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013, Flav and Public Enemy, led by charismatic frontman Chuck D., released their debut album, Yo! Bum Rush the Show, in 1987. Known for their politically conscious lyrics, PE is widely considered to be one of the most influential acts in the history of hip-hop with their impact felt over multiple genres and generations of music.
