Flavor Flav’s celebration for the United States’ gold medal-winning Olympic women’s hockey team has officially been given a “Yeah, boyyyy!”

The legendary Public Enemy rapper and hypeman announced the “She Got Game Weekend” set for July 16 to 19 in Las Vegas.

He Got Game was a 1998 Spike Lee film starring Basketball Hall of Famer Ray Allen and Denzel Washington for which Public Enemy recorded the title track for the movie’s soundtrack.

The 66-year-old Flav originally invited the team for a celebration in the wake of the team declining an invite made by president Donald Trump to attend this past Tuesday’s State of the Union address.

Trump’s invitation wasn’t received well and came in the middle of a FaceTime conversation with members of the men’s team following their 2-1 overtime win over Canada in Sunday’s gold-medal game. After inviting the men’s team, Trump said, “I must tell you, we’re going to have to bring the women’s team, you do know that?” and said that he “probably would be impeached” if he didn’t, eliciting laughter from the locker room.

The invitation was turned down with the team citing “previously scheduled academic and professional commitments following the Games.” All but five members of the men’s team traveled to meet with Trump at the White House on Tuesday and many stayed to appear at the State of the Union where they were officially recognized.

On Wednesday, United States and Seattle Torrent captain Hilary Knight called Trump’s remark “distasteful.”

“It was sort of a distasteful joke, and unfortunately that is overshadowing a lot of the success, the success of just women at the Olympics carrying for Team USA and having amazing gold medal feats,” Knight said.

Knight, who scored in the U.S.’s 2-1 overtime victory over Canada in the gold-medal game, was also conciliatory towards the member of the men’s team who laughed at Trump’s remark.

“I think there’s a genuine level of support there and respect [from the men’s team],” Knight said. “That’s being overshadowed by a quick lapse. The guys were in a tough spot, so I think it’s a shame this storyline and narrative has kind of blown up and [is] overshadowing that connection and genuine interest in one another and cheering each other on.”

Knight, 36, officially announced her international retirement before the Olympics. She finishes her U.S. career with two Olympic gold medals and 10 world championships. In 116 senior games, Knight scored 81 goals and added 71 assists.

A native of Palo Alto, CA, Knight has three goals and seven assists in 14 games for the Torrent this season. She led the league in scoring in 2024-2025 with 15 goals and 14 assists in 30 games last season with the Boston Fleet with whom she spent her first two PWHL seasons.
