Tight ends in Norman will learn from one of the greatest of all-time next season.

On3 Sports’ Pete Nakos reports Oklahoma is hiring Jason Witten as its new tight ends coach.

An 11-time Pro Bowler, Witten spent 16 of his 17 NFL seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, finishing his career in 2020 with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Originally taken with the 69th overall pick of the 2003 NFL Draft out of Tennessee, Witten would appear in 271 games, hauling in 1,228 receptions for 13,406 yards and 74 touchdowns. Witten reached the 1,000-yards receiving mark on four occasions.

Among tight ends, Witten is second all-time in receiving yards, second in receptions and sixth in touchdowns.

Brent Venable’s Sooners reached the College Football Playoff this past season, losing to Alabama in the first round.
