The PGA Tour begins its Florida swing this weekend with the Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches set to begin at PGA National’s Champion Course on Thursday.
Coming off a pair of signature events in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Genesis Invitational, some of the Tour’s top stars won’t be in the field in Palm Beach. However, former major winners Adam Scott, Shane Lowry, and Brooks Koepka will be part of a 121-player group competing for 500 FedEx Cup points.
Canadian Adam Hadwin will be in the field for his first PGA Tour start of 2026. The 2017 Valspar Championship winner will be joined in the field by fellow Canadians Mackenzie Hughes, Adam Svensson, Sudarshan Yellamaraju, and A.J. Ewart.
Hadwin, 38, began 2026 on the Korn Ferry Tour after a difficult 2025 season where he finished in the top-10 once in 29 starts.
“An extremely frustrating year overall,” Hadwin told TSN’s Bob Weeks in late January.
“I was in quicksand. The harder that I tried to get out of it, the worse I got. And the more frustrated I got, the more down on myself I became. You add those all up, and at some point, I had no confidence in what I was doing.”
With a sponsor’s exemption in Palm Beach, the Moose Jaw, Sask., native will look to rebound on the par-71, 7,223-yard course that previously hosted the PGA Championship and Ryder Cup.
Hughes, 35, finished tied for 34th at Pebble Beach earlier this month, while his best finish of the season came at the WM Phoenix Open, when he finished tied for 28th after posting rounds of 68-69-69-71.
Svensson, 32, has made just one of three cuts heading into Palm Beach and has missed in each of his past two starts at the American Express and the Farmers Insurance Open.
Yellamaraju, 24, finished tied for 54th in his last PGA start in Phoenix. He has made three of four cuts this season.
Ewart, 26, had his best finish of the season at the Phoenix Open, firing a 7-under to finish tied for 28th.
Defending champion Joe Highsmith will be in the field after shooting 19-under in 2025 to beat last week’s Genesis winner, Jacob Bridgeman, by two strokes for his only career PGA Tour win.
Koepka, a West Palm Beach native, returns to his hometown event for the first time since his three-year hiatus with LIV Golf. He played at the event seven times from 2014 to 2022, with his best finish coming in 2019 when he tied for second.
“More than anything, I think the reintegration is going well for him. I love how honest he’s being about how nervous he was and how much he wants to reintegrate with the guys,” Cognizant Classic executive director Todd Fleming said of Koepka.
“I think it’s great for us, great for our community, and I’m glad he was able to choose us to be a part of his schedule.”
No. 7 Ryan Gerard will be the top-ranked player on the list, leading a field that also includes Max Homa and Will Zalatoris.
