It seems like just about everyone has turned to gaming to pass the time right now, and without the chance to play any actual hockey, the IIHF is going to turn to NHL 20 to engage fans with the in-game international teams.
The IIHF is inviting fans to represent their country with the IIHF Esports Fan Championship, with games streamed on Twitch and the chance to win “prize money, hockey merchandise and ‘money can’t but’ VIP-experiences.”
🎮 Play as a fan. Represent your country.

Well, if you’ve ever wanted to capture IIHF glory with Team Canada, this could be your chance to represent your country.
We’ve seen a number of similar NHL 20 tournaments spring up recently, although an international team tournament hosted by the IIHF is pretty hard to top. That said, we have to give props to the Mario Lemieux Foundation’s idea to host a throwback NHL 94 tournament to benefit cancer research.
Wouldn't it be great if you could support the Lemieux Foundation all while playing one of the greatest video games of all time? Here's your chance! @nhl94dotcom is hosting a NHL 94 online tourney & proceeds benefit the MLF! Here's what you need to know: https://t.co/VE8JFk6k8B pic.twitter.com/2oVI4pGVoS
