Sometimes, the bounces go your way in hockey. And then other times they don’t.
Look no further than Sweden at the IIHF World Hockey Championship, who gave up one of the worst goals imaginable during their round robin affair against Latvia. Down 2-1 in the third period, Latvia managed to put an awkward goal home on the power play… well, they didn’t exactly put it home. As Sweden defenceman Mattis Ekholm attempted to clear the puck, he managed to somehow bounce it off BOTH of Louis Eriksson’s shin pads before it trickled in.
You can’t make this stuff up.
The worst bounce imaginable for #Sweden 🤭. That right there is as weird as it gets! #IIHFWorlds

Yikessssssssss.
There’s one other fluky goal that contends with this one for most unfortunate of the tournament, and it came in the form of a Radko Gudas slap-shot from centre ice against Italy. Gudas doesn’t score often but hey, he’ll take it!
#RadkoGudas scored from centre ice against #Italy 😳

These kind of goals happen sometimes but a DOUBLE SHIN PAD bounce is basically as bad as it gets.
