North American hockey fans love showing support for their country in any tournament they play in, but when Canada and USA go head-to-head in a hockey game the passion for their country intensifies.
Well, on Saturday morning Team Canada and Team USA will go head-to-head in the semifinals for a spot in the gold medal game at the IIHF World Championship. USA dominated Canada in their preliminary game a couple of weeks ago, but when you look at their all-time head-to-head stats, it’s been a pretty one-sided series.

Canada and USA have played against each other at the IIHF World Championship 48 times in the history of the tournament, and Canada has won 41 of those contests while allowing an average of just two goals against per meeting.

On top of winning 41 of the 48 meetings in their all-time series, just three of Canada’s losses came in regulation while the other four came in overtime. However, USA has won three of the last four meetings and four of the last seven.
